Funny Moment of the Day

So we went to Cafe Rio for Christmas Eve dinner and then on the way home, I lay on Luke's lap (yes I had my seatbelt on, no worries)... (oh and we were parked at a store)... and I close my eyes.  I hear giggling from Hyrum and Luke... and Hyrum 'whispers' into Luke's ear, "Kiss her on the lips!"  and more giggling follows...
I grinned, wondering what would happen next.  All I got was a kiss on the forehead, but they just laughed so hard about even that, it was just cute...
So I sit up and say, "So is it weird for me to kiss you guys?"
No answer.
I kiss Hyrum first, on the cheek, and he squeals and 'wipes it off' with his hand.
Then Luke goes, "No, Kiss me!"
I kiss him on the cheek.
"Yeah, it feels good!"

Oh little brothers.  :)

Life: One Grand Adventure

I've been pretty busy lately, and yet at the same time I feel relaxed and like I'm having a wonderful time.  A great combination, if you ask me!  It's been fun to spend time with those I love and meet new people that I love as well!  I miss the people I love in Poland, but I believe that God knows what He's doing with me and my life and I'm trusting Him and it's so refreshing to just lean back and trust on the Lord.

I haven't taken the time to make a blog post for several reasons, but I think one of them was that nothing really felt blog-worthy.  This week, however, has been different! :)

I got to go visit my Aunt Rishi in West Virginia this past week for her Birthday.
It was so much fun.  The flight out there was long but soooo worth it!  I prayed SO hard that I'd be able to share the gospel with someone!  I wanted to give away the Book of Mormon that I had on me, but on the way to West Virigina I hadn't given it away.  I talked to a man who's son was Mormon, and to a boy named Zach who I now have his Facebook and a girl named Elizabeth.  But none of them got to the point where I wanted to give them a Book of Mormon...  So on my return trip, we get to the airport in Beckley and I'm checking in and the guy tells us that the plane has been delayed four hours... mechanical difficulties!  So we have to drive an extra 45 minutes to a different airport and poor Rishi has three kids to take care of the whole time... but it worked out, we used my smart phone to find song requests on YouTube :)  So we listened to the Captain America song because Ammon "loves" Captain America!  Haha...

Anyways, I know that God had me miss my first plane so that I'd meet the people I did that day!!!  We get there, to the airport, and I get on the plane and talk to a cute family in front of me a little bit, the boy is super cute with a Star Wars Angry Birds back-pack! :) Didn't know that existed... So then I really wanted to give them a pass-along card, but was nervous... and then after we got off of the plane in Washington D.C., I finally got enough courage (after I saw they were lingering by the bathrooms!) and talked to them for a minute.  The mom and dad met at a Bible School and they were the cutest little family, definitely had the light of Christ in them.  They were going to Paris, California.  I gave them the pass-along-card that would get them a free DVD about Christ and they accepted it!  So fun.

In the Dulles Airport I met another family, three kids, we got to know each other pretty well.  I had a 5 hour layover and their family had like a 2 hour one, but we only chatted for maybe 45 minutes.  I drew a princess for the youngest girl.  They looked like they were from an Arabic country, the dad is a doctor!  His wife studied to be a lawyer but is a stay-at-home mom full time!  YES!  They were so solid!  I wrote my name and e-mail on a pass-along card and gave it to them!  They offered their home if I was ever in D.C. again :) YEAH!  I love strangers!  I just LOVED that five hour lay-over thinking about all the awesome people in that airport and how I wanted to just be a missionary and I also got this really cool spiritual confirmation about God's mercy too.  Like I know he's not going to damn all these good people who would have accepted the gospel.  I think they will be fine.  And because of that I think I need to give myself a little more slack sometimes... like not be so upset that I'm not perfect yet.  Anyways, I was so happy.  And I am SO HAPPY lately.  It's crazy.  I don't think I've been this happy for a while.

During that 5 hour layover, I also found time to look at the flags that lined the big hall way, I tried to find a Polish flag but only found the Brazilian flag THREE TIMES and the Oregon flag once :) haha...

On the next flight, I got to sit next to Sara, from England.  She's a spunky funny outdoorsy girl in her late 20's and she likes to talk about RELIGION... WHAT!  She had only heard rumors about the Book of Mormon and she said that she has been feeling like she needs to be closer to God lately but she doesn't know how.  I GOT TO EXPLAIN THE BOOK OF MORMON!  Aaaaaaahhhhh!!!! It was AWESOME!  I got to tell her about Joseph Smith and how he saw God and Jesus and she looked at me incrediously but I was like, 'yeah man it's REAL!!!  Oh it was so fun.  She asked good questions and I felt impressed to share the Plan of Salvation with her and it took me forever to work it in, but then we somehow got on the topic of life after this life and I told her there was something after this life.  She said she wasn't so sure.  I told her we were spirits before and that we'll be spirits again until the resurrection.  I kind of talked a bit more about pre-mortal life because I felt to and she sat back and said something like, 'whoa, you've made me think about something I've never thought of before.'  WHAT! :) YES!  Oh man... oh man, oh man.  It's true!  The church is so true.  Anyways, that was SWEET!  And then she falls asleep and I write her a novel of a note and my testimony and put it in the Book of Mormon.  When we are getting off the plane, I'm like, 'Hey Sarah, would you read the Book of Mormon if I gave it to you?  I have a copy and I wanted to give it to someone.'  'Yeah, actually, I'd read it.'  SWEET, this is yours!  Oh boy.  Elated.  I prayed over and over again 'thanks!'  THANKS THANKS THANKS!  YES!

So then I didn't think I'd have another chance on the next plane because we were headed to Salt Lake City.  But I sat next to two 19 year old twins!  When I said 'hi' for the first time, they responded 'hi' almost simultaneously and were super nice.  The one, said that I looked familiar and what was my name, so I said 'Amber Allen' and he said maybe he didn't know me then... haha I told him that lots of people say I have a familiar face and that maybe I just have one of those faces.  Um... I seriously have gotten that a lot - even in Poland I got it a couple times.  I like to pretend that I had a lot of friends before this life... Yeah, that sounds awesome.  And I just loved people.  Because I DO love people.  And I just hope it's for the right reasons.  I hope that I am loving people because... I love them, and not because I want more friends - not for selfish desires.  I just think people are cool.  They're all so different.

ANYWAYS, back to the twins.  They were a fun conversation.  They were charming.  They went to Kansas for school and the one studies to become a Bible teacher/minister and the other, Justin, studies music, wants to share the "gospel" through music.  Man, it was fun to share ideas, they are not mormon, but have lived in Utah their entire life!  They didn't really understand the restoration so I got to re-explain that to them, also got to talk about other gospel topics... it was fun.  They want a King James Version Bible with Joseph Smith Translations.  I guess they've asked the missionaries and others for it but no one has given it to them!  I told them I'd try to drop one off on my way to Idaho.  So I'm going to do it.  I have to follow through!  Show up! :)

O.k. so yeah, I have new friends and I'm excited about it.

I wish I could travel every week to be a missionary!  I sure hope it wouldn't get harder, that I could improve my tactics and stuff, that it wouldn't get old... Actually, truth be told, I don't really like being in a plane so much, I've had enough planes for the next five years.  But just to do missionary work, it's worth it.

I'm excited to keep being a missionary! I love being a missionary.

This week we go to Texas as a family and that will be another grand adventure!  Other grand adventures I have had include: Going sledding with this beautiful weather and snow!!!  Watching my first movies since being back: 1. The Hobbit, 2. Frozen, 3. Rise of the Guardians.  Helping my dad fit the back-hoe into the shop and having my little brother teach me to drive a dirt bike, re-learning how to drive stick-shift, and going to the TEMPLE with my mom and dad again.
I love being home, and I'm excited for the next phase of my life.  School starts January 6th and I hope Rexburg is ready for this girl, because I'm super excited to be there!
The church is true!
Love,
Amber

Grateful

My little, but bigger than me, brother Spencer just taught me how to ride the motor bike they bought for Christmas last year.
I'm listening to some of my favorite songs.
I can write to people in Polish whenever I want on the internet!
I got to sing songs to my little brothers the other night, and sang some in Polish.  When I was done, James started singing 'I Am A Child of God' in Spanish!
The church is still true.
And I love being able to watch mormon messages!  Making cookies and Bigos, a DELICIOUS polish dish!
